Getting started with Relimb

If you are exploring treatment with Relimb, this page explains how to get started, what happens after you contact us, and where to go for more detailed information.

Looking for private treatment information? See the private pathway.

There is no single route into Relimb. Some people come through a referral, some through a professional or case manager, and some first speak to us via a free taster clinic. This page is here to help you understand the starting points and the next steps.

Choose the right starting point

If you are unsure where to begin, a direct enquiry is usually the easiest route. If you are already working with a GP, surgeon, therapist, case manager or solicitor, they can also contact the team on your behalf. Some people prefer to begin with a free taster clinic.

What happens after first contact

Once we have your details, the team reviews the information available and advises on the most appropriate next step. That may be a clinic appointment, a taster clinic, a request for more information, or guidance on the best referral route.

Your first appointment

The first appointment is there to understand the wider picture: your history, the problem you are dealing with now, what has already been tried, and what you want to improve. It is also your chance to ask questions and understand what realistic options may be available.

It can help to have ready:

  • Any recent clinic letters or referral information you already have
  • A list of current medicines
  • Any imaging or reports you have been asked to bring
  • A short list of questions you would like answered

Where you may be seen

Relimb is based at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Some first conversations may begin through taster clinics held at alternate locations during the year. For the latest clinic information, use the clinics page rather than relying on older letters or social posts.

Understanding the next stage

After first contact or assessment, the next stage depends on your needs. That may mean further review, treatment planning, discussion of surgical or non-surgical options, or advice on a different route. We aim to explain this clearly, in plain language, and with time for questions.

Not sure whether Relimb is the right place to start?

You do not need to know the answer before getting in touch. If your situation may need specialist reconstructive input, the team can help you understand the most appropriate next step.

Free taster clinics are also held at selected locations during the year.
