More about the patient pathway

What to expect

A taster clinic is a short, informal conversation — not an examination. It is there to help you understand whether Relimb is the right next step, and to give you a chance to ask questions before deciding anything.

Informal taster clinic discussion with a patient

Taster clinics provide a relaxed, informal environment to discuss your options • Read patient stories

Format & duration

Around 15–20 minutes with one of the Relimb consultant surgeons. It is a conversation, not an examination. Bring your questions and describe your situation. There is no obligation to proceed.

Who you will meet

Mr Alexander Woollard or Mr Norbert Kang. They will listen to your situation and give you a realistic view of whether the service is likely to be relevant and what the next step might involve.

What to bring

  • • Any clinic letters or reports you already have
  • • A list of questions you would like answered
  • • A family member or supporter if that helps

Do not worry if you do not have records — a conversation about your situation is still useful.

What you should leave with

A clearer sense of:

  • • Whether specialist assessment is likely to be relevant for you
  • • What options might be worth exploring
  • • What a fuller assessment would involve
  • • How to take the next step if you decide to proceed

Partnership with Dorset Orthopaedic

Relimb works in partnership with Dorset Orthopaedic to coordinate rehabilitation alongside surgical care.

This partnership means that prosthetic planning, rehabilitation and surgical input are considered together, so patients are not left navigating between disconnected teams.
